Fall 2020 – In Review

Due to COVID-19, GWU went online and most students were not permitted to live on campus. As a result, this change affected the Vibes because we were unable to meet in person this Fall 2020 semester. However, this didn’t stop us from having a great semester:

  • October 23rd, 2020 – Virtual Concert hosted by the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore
    • Most of our set was recorded during Fall 2020 and a few songs were recorded in the summer. * = live performances/pre-recorded

  • Soul to Squeeze – Our Alumni Song
    • Kevin Lynch ’22 and Nina Feliciano ’22 transcribed the music with the help of current members and alumni
    • Kevin and Rachel Asaeda ’22 reached out to alumni, asking if they would be interested in singing Soul to Squeeze, and many responded and participated!
  • New Recordings
    • We were able to work with 2 alums, Noah Thomas ’19 and Brent Arimoto ’18, who were able to audio edit, mix, and master, and beatbox, respectively on:

      • Fire On Fire
      • Still Feel
      • Stupid Deep
      • Soul to Squeeze
      • Wait a Minute/Redbone (Brent beatboxed)
  • We released our EP Vocal Distancing, which included all the songs that Noah worked on!
  • We bought some equipment that the Vibes can use for future gigs.
